I had bought my Savage rifle used from a friend and it only came with one magazine. So I purchased this one and the only visual difference is this new one had indentations on the side. I guess this was to make it stronger. The old magazine slips right in and fits loose. The new one I have to wiggle back and forth and play with it to get it into the rifle. Once it''s in it fits real nice and tight. I don''t know alot about Savage rifles or magazines, I''m an AR guy. So I gave it a 4 because it looks and works great. Plus I wasn''t sure if it should fit tight and the old mag I had is just worn and loose or what.

I bought this magazine as a spare for a Savage Model 93 - 17 hmr rifle that I had bought. When I first tried the magazine with my rifle it was binding when I would put in in and take it out of my rifle. Since then I have used a lubricant on the magazine, and with time it is binding less when I use it in my rifle.

It is always best to use the original manufactures magazines even though they might be a little more money. Made in Canada is better than China. Most places were out of these but this site usually comes through for me.

decent magazine i have 3 of them all of them are the 90001 model number. however i have found a problem with the new magazines the anti rust coating they put on before packaging causes sticking of the follower wich makes the rounds stick off center in the mag so it jams. if you slide the bottom plate off and pull out the spring and follower and clean the inside of the mag it will fix the problem also 1 drop of gun oil on the follower will help alot only one drop is needed. after adding the oil try to spread it around the entire follower only on the vertical portions. the top and bottom does not need oil at all, if you do this the problems will all go away, these initial issues are why i gave it a 3 star rating

Great backup clip and works well. I would suggest a light coat of oil before use to keep the exposed part of the clip working smoothly and to prevent rust.

The magazines in the .17s are made a little lighter than the ones for the .22 long rifle that came in my Savage semi-auto. I had to put a little teflon grease on the track that the magazine rides on and it helped it to slide in place and click. The price on these is not bad considering they are the factory magazine that Savage puts in them. They work great after the spring settles down and they get a little wear on them. I just put 4 rounds in them at first, but I store them with 5 rounds in them to take a little tension out of the spring. It seems to help them load and feed better.BTW I dearly love my little bolt action Savage .17 cal.It is the most fun firearm I have ever owned. I know where toget parts for it to when and if I ever wear it out.

Since the mag holds only 5 rounds it''s essential to have a few mags on hand for target shooting. A mag that holds 10-25 rounds would be a nice product for someone to offer.

Good product. Though it required some break in, for smother attachment to rifle. =JIM=
